Michael A. Rossi

Michael A. Rossi is President and founder of Insurance Law Group, Inc.  He was formerly a partner in a Los Angeles-based law firm of over 150 lawyers, where he chaired the firm’s risk management department.

 Mr. Rossi spends most of his practice on insurance matters for large, multinational corporations based in North America and Europe.  About 60% of his practice involves transactional matters, and about 40% of his practice involves post-loss coverage matters. He splits his time between the firm’s Los Angeles and London offices. 

For the transactional side of his practice, Mr. Rossi regularly advises corporate insureds on issues to consider and enhancements to seek with respect to their insurance policies and programs, on many lines of first-party and liability insurance coverages typically carried by large corporations.  In 2002, particular lines of coverage on which Mr. Rossi is spending considerable time include Directors’ & Officers’ Liability, Technology Errors & Omissions, Media Liability and Commercial Property.  Mr. Rossi also advises his clients in connection with insurance and risk management issues for mergers and acquisitions, and insurance issues with respect to e-commerce risks.  Mr. Rossi also works with corporations on the indemnity and insurance provisions in their contracts.   

For the post-loss side of his practice, Mr. Rossi regularly advises insureds on presenting claims to insurers for first-party losses (e.g., employee dishonesty, loss of property, business interruption and extra expense) and third-party claims (e.g., claims for patent infringement, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, product disparagement, products liability, professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, employment practices liability, etc.). 

Mr. Rossi regularly publishes insurance-related articles in the US, UK and Australia, and regularly gives presentations and participates on panel discussions at insurance-related conferences in the US, UK and Australia.  Copies of some of these articles are available on this site .  Mr. Rossi writes the Cyber Insurance column for IRMI.com at www.irmi.com.  This column reports on developments concerning e-commerce insurance issues.  He also regularly writes for IRMI’s The Risk Report and IRMI’s Employment Practices Liability Insurance Consultant.  Information on these publications is available at www.irmi.com, and copies of some of these articles are available on the this website .
